Just come across a gem in Alistair Campbell’s diaries, written at the time Robin Cook’s affair with his secretary was about to be made public: “TB (Tony Blair) and I then went off round the entire Cabinet thinking of skeletons we either knew of, or could imagine. I said if you’re not careful you’ll be left with (Donald) Dewar and (Gavin) Strang.”
