So Stanley (father of Boris) Johnson won’t be the Tory candidate in Henley whenever the by-election is held. Given that he lives in Devon, it can hardly be a surprising decision to exclude him from the shortlist. There have been instances in the past where MPs’ children and spouses have taken their place following their death or retirement. But I’m not aware of a parent replacing his or her child as an MP in the same seat. Can anyone think of when this might have happened?
