Greatest Christmas hits of the last 2000 years: No. 5

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day – Roy Wood and Wizzard

JUST because it’s a cliché doesn’t mean it’s not utterly brilliant. And as a big ELO fan, anything by Roy Wood has a special place in my heart.

Christmas is nine tenths nostalgia, and I well remember Wizzard’s (at the time) bizarre performances on Top of the Pops in the seventies (“See My Baby Jive” was, and remains, a classic).

And how many musicians would have the gall to begin their Christmas song with the highly appropriate sound of a cash register ringing?
